Abstract

1415068 Stacked trays MEDICAL LABORATORY AUTOMATION Inc 3 Aug 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 37078/73 Addition to 1350543 Headings B8C and B8P [Also in Division B1] A package of pipette tips comprises a plurality of stacked trays, each tray 12 having a plurality of apertures 20 through which the tips project with ribs 11 on the tips resting on the tray and a wall 13 depending below the bottom of the tips, the or each upper tray resting on a ledge 22 of the wall 13 of the tray beneath with the tips of one tray extending into the tips of the tray beneath. A cover may be put over the top tray and an insert into the base of the bottom tray. The cover and trays are held together by an adhesive tape extending down the sides of the package and optionally across the bottom. On each side of a tray there is a notch to facilitate slitting of the tape or the tape may be weakened to permit removal of the trays from the bottom one-by-one. The package may be inserted in a carton together with sleeves into which separated trays may be inserted. The carton has an opening and slits to receive a grooved element (31) which facilitates the fuelling of used tips off a pipette.
