Abstract

1414934 Filling tanks DAIMLER-BENZ AG 27 Feb 1974 [1 March 1973] 8934/74 Heading B8T [Also in Division B7] A motor-vehicle fuel tank 1 is provided with a filler pipe 2 including a filling portion 4 extending at a small angle to the plane of a wall 5 of the tank, the filling opening 7 of the filler pipe having a socket 11 provided with diametrically opposed notches for facilitating the twist connection of a closure cap, a web 14 being provided in the filler pipe to determine the depth of insertion of a fuel delivery nozzle 8. In use, the nozzle 8 is located in the filler pipe by engagement with a flange 15 of the web 14, a part 17 of the filler pipe wall 13, and a margin 10 of the socket 11. The tank is provided with a breather tube 6. The fuel delivery nozzle 8 has a fuel-sensing nozzle 20 for use in automatically stopping fuel delivery.
