Abstract

1414927 Rotary drum mixers SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 18 June 1973 [24 June 1972] 28750/73 Heading B1C [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] A horizontal rotary drum agitator for molten pig-iron is supported on each side by trunnions 8 in self-aligning plain bearings 6; one trunnion has a bore 20 in which is journalled a non-rotating spigot shaft 19 from which depends a U-shaped platform 16 carrying one or more motors 15 which rotate the drum through reduction gearing 9-13. The drive torque reaction is taken by adjustable wear plates 26 of the platform 16 which bear on a circular arcuate portion 25 of a pillar 5 which supports the bearing 6. The drum may be mounted on rail bogies, see Fig. 1 (not shown).
