Abstract

1414845 Tape cable connector CAVIS CAVETTI ISOLATI SpA 27 April 1973 [16 June 1972] 20047/73 Heading H2E In a connector to connect tape cables 17 to wires 24 the tapes are inserted through slots 16 in the base of an insulating box structure 1, outward faces of the tape conductors being bared and the tapes being fastened (e.g. riveted) to the body at 18, blade contacts 25, with tails 23 connected to wires 24 and housed in recesses 22 in a second insulating box structure 21, project outwardly from slots 26 and are retained by detents 28, so that when the box structures 1, 21 are fitted together with chevron edges of side walls 2, 20 mating and inset walls 19 of body 21 fitted inside walls 2 of body 1, blades 25 lie adjacent to the bared tape conductors. In the lower body 1, cylindrical insulating caps 9, 9<SP>1</SP> in seats 8 in the upwardly projecting core 6 of the body press with domed surfaces 10, 10<SP>1</SP> on the inner sides of tapes 17 to maintain contact, urged outwardly by springs 15, 15<SP>1</SP> bearing against central partition 14 in a cylindrical guide 12, the caps being retained by part-annular lips 11, 11<SP>1</SP> bearing on flanges 13, 13<SP>1</SP> on the guide.
