Abstract

141,482. Collins, R. C. March 21, 1919. Fenders and curbs; ashguards.-A fender, curb, or ash. guard consists of a front or main section 2 with side wings 3 pivoted to it. Preferably, each section consists of a sheet-metal frame with an open front filled with tiles 7 fitted in the turned-over edges 4, 5 of the frame. The frames are connected by pivot rods, with screw caps 12, which pass through eyepieces 10 at the ends of metal strips 9 in the edges 4, 5. The eye-pieces 10 may be formed integrally with the parts 4, 5. The pivot rods are enclosed in tubular distance-pieces 13. and the upper hinge joints are covered by ornaments 14. The tiles 7 are preferably backed by sheetmetal packing-pieces resembling trays, and the tiles and the trays are secured by turning in the vertical edges 8 of frames. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 16850/86.
