Abstract

1413939 Purifying cooling gas in fibre spinning BAYER AG 8 April 1974 [12 April 1973] 15497/74 Heading B5B In the spinning of fibres, preferably melt spinning caprolactam, an inert cooling gas, preferably air, is blown transversely to the fibres under the spinneret and drawn into an evacuation chamber under reduced pressure and through a wall of liquid produced by a hollow cone nozzle to remove any impurities and secondary products and then separating the gas and liquid. Preferably after the first separation the gas is washed a second time and after further separation the clean gas is passed to the atmosphere and all the liquid collected for recycle to the washing spray nozzles after removal of the sediment which may be used to recover the various impurities.
