Abstract

1413866 Reciprocating pumps and motors R C CLERK 14 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 29690/73 Heading F1A Suction or delivery pulsations are reduced in a rotary cylinder block, axial piston pump or motor by a chamber 3 provided in communication with an inlet or outlet port B, the chamber containing a capsule C comprising a flexible bladder 5 containing a gas, expansion and contraction of the bladder being limited by porous walls 4 and 6. The gas charge is introduced through tube 16 which is subsequently sealed. For the inlet port application shown, wall 4 is of lighter gauge than wall 6, the reverse being the case for the outlet port application of Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The gas connection to the bladder may incorporate a ball-valve and a removable cap, and the joints in the capsule structure may be welded, Fig. 3 (not shown). The porous wall 4 may be omitted for the inlet port application, its function being performed by the inner surface of the chamber, the surface being grooved to provide access to the bladder by the inlet port pressure.
