Abstract

1413576 Sliding clasp fastener elements BRIER MFG CO 18 Jan 1973 [13 March 1972] 2558/73 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener element 10 comprises superimposed front and rear portions 12, 14, the rear portion 14 having side edges 28 symmetrical with respect to a plane midway between the side edges and extending from front to rear, the side edges 28 comprising oppositely disposed inwardly extending recesses 32 and oppositely disposed outwardly extending projections 30 located in juxtaposition to the recesses, the recesses extending inwardly of the periphery 34 of the side edges of the front portion and the projections 30 extending outwardly beyond the periphery 34, the recesses 32 and projections 30 being generally complementary in configuration, whereby the projections 30 of the elements 10 in a row of elements are adapted to interlock within the recesses of adjacent elements 10, in an opposed row of elements, in which position the projections 30 underlie, and overlap with the front portion of the adjacent elements 10, the interlocking and overlapping providing resistance against pullapart, shear and flexural forces. The elements 10 may be of plastics material formed in a two-part mould and the front portion 12 of each element may have a recess for an ornament 20.
