Abstract

1413248 Tunnels etc; latches GEWERK SCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 19 April 1973 [20 April 1972] 19502/73 Headings E1F and E2A An advanceable lining for driving tunnels or the like comprises first and second frames 12, 13, Fig. 1, means 14 for effecting relative displacement of the frames, a plurality of elongate members or planks 11 arranged side by side, and locking devices on each of the frames which are selectively connectible with and disconnectible from the planks 11. Each plank is provided with two sets of apertures 18 and 19 for engagement with the locking devices of frames 12 and 13, respectively, and the locking devices include spring-biased pins 20, Fig. 3, and (36) Fig. 4 (not shown). For advancement of the lining two or three planks are locked to the frame 13 by pins (36) and the frame 13 is advanced in the direction A by means of double-acting piston and cylinder units 14. The locked planks 11 move forward with the frame 13 whilst the remainder of the planks remain fixed, the associated pins (36) of these fixed plates being automatically retracted by means of inclined surfaces provided in the apertures 19 and on the ends of the pins (36). Similarly inclined surfaces 21 on the pins 20 and 29', 31 in the apertures 18 retract the pins 20 associated with the two or three advancing planks 11. The two or three planks are then released. the frame 13 returned in the direction B, and the cycle repeated. When all the planks have been advanced the frame 12 is advanced by the units 14. The apertures 19 are provided with two end faces (37) parallel with the pin (36), and two inclined faces (42, 43) converging towards the pin. The operative end of the pin has an inclined surface (42), and is rotatable by means of a lever (44) which rides over a cam (49) to retract the pin.
