Abstract
1413232 Cracking catalyst W R GRACE & CO 18 July 1973 [19 July 1972] 34259/73 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A cracking catalyst composition comprises synthetic silica-magnesia-fluoride admixed with 20-40% wt. clay. The composition may also contain a zeolite, e.g. rare earth exchanged type Y or type X zeolites or hydrogen- or metalexchanged faujasites. Suitably, the silica-magnesia-fluoride component comprises 60-92% silica, 8-40% magnesia and up to 6% fluoride. The catalyst may have a surface area of 300- 600 m<SP>2</SP>/g after calcining at 1000‹F, and of 125 to 300 m<SP>2</SP>/g after steaming and a pore volume of 0.4-0.8 cc/g. The clay may be kaolin, bentonite, halloysite, montmorillonite or atarpulgite and, suitably, has an average particle size of 0.5 to 2.0 microns.
