Abstract

1413108 Hydraulic reciprocating motors RENOLD Ltd 6 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 52039/71 Heading F1A In a hydraulic motor wherein fluid is alternately supplied to and exhausted from radial cylinders 51 each containing a piston 60 carrying a roller follower 63 which co-operates with an internally lobed cam track 27, each roller is retained in a part cylindrical recess 61 in the end of its piston. Each recess 61 extends through an angle greater than 180 degrees whereby to retain its roller captive. The rollers are prevented from moving axially out of their recesses 61 by steel rings 201, 202 mounted in discontinuous recesses extending around the inside of stationary casing halves 22, 25. Each recess 61 is lined with a plastics material based on acetal, polyvinylidene fluoride, polysulphone,polyamide or polyimide supported on a metal backing strip having a layer of sintered bronze to provide a key. The rollers may be solid, hollow or tubular. In order to allow the motor to freewheel, fluid may be supplied to the casing 22, 25 to force the pistons into their cylinders. Fluid is supplied to and exhausted from the cylinders 51 through a pintle 1 described in detail in Specification 1413107.
