1413071 Refractories USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 2 Jan 1973 [3 Jan 1972] 274/73 Heading CIJ [Also in Division F4] A refractory gumming composition comprises 2-10 water and 90-98% of a mixture of (a) 85-95% MgO (90-98% purity) a grain porosity less than 12% of its volume and less than 3% SiO 2 ; (b) 1-5% carbon-100 U.S. mesh; (c) 2-8 solid pitch-100 U.S. mesh and R and B 210-300‹ F. and (d) 1-8% of chromic acid, sed. silicate, MgCl 2 , MgSO 4 or H 3 Be 3 . The carbon can be lamp black, coke or graphite.
