Abstract

1413055 Combined rotary kiln and preheater ISHIKAWAJIMA-HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 5 Dec 1973 [6 Dec 1972] 56440/73 Heading F4B A rotary kiln 2 with integral rotary multicylinder precooler 31 in combination with a material preheater with fuel burner 5 in which clinker is precooled by combustion air induced through the precooler 31 and combustion air for the preheater is supplied by a duct 82 from the clinker main cooler 32. Blower 7 supplies cooling air to the main cooler 32 and air not taken by the preheater 1 is discharged through the vent 9. Each precooler cylinder has a weir 12 so that clinker is discharged at the highest position of rotation on to the inclined surface 10 which facilitates uniform distribution of clinker over the grate. In a modified version, when it is not required to cool clinker to less than 100‹ C., the main cooler may be divided into high and low temperature zones and cooling air supplied to the low temperature zone is then sent to the suction side of the cooling air for the high temperature zone. Under the same criteria of clinker temperature, a counterflow type rotary cooler may be used instead of the grate type cooler.
