Abstract

1413026 Particulate materials COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 24 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972 3 Aug 1973] 40274/73 Heading A5B A finely divided particulate material for use in dentifrices comprises particles of a matrix of a meltable pharmaceutically acceptable binding material and between 5 and 10% by weight of an anti-irritant compound selected from allantoin, aluminium dihydroxy allantoinate and aluminium chlorohydroxyallantoinate and mixtures thereof, the meltable binding material having a melting or softening point lower than the decomposition or melting point of the anti-irritant compound, the particles having a size of 100 to 1000 microns. The binding material may be a C 12 -C 22 saturated fatty acid di- or tri-ester of glycerol or ethylene glycol, e.g. glyceryl tristearate, or a resin, gum, gel, wax or polymer. The dentifrices may also contain conventional additives and antibacterial agents, a number of which are specified.
