Abstract

1413004 Wall plugs PLAS PLUGS Ltd 9 April 1974 [18 April 1973] 18636/73 Heading F2H A wall plug for use in securing a panel 12 to a substrate 14, e.g. a batten, comprises a tubular body 2 radially expansible by the insertion of a screw 16 or other fastener and having external ribs or projections 4 to engage the wall of a bore through the substrate 14, the leading end of the body 2 having at least two legs 8 which in use project beyond the rear face of the substrate, each leg having at least one finger or barb 10 attached to its free end and lying approximately parallel to the leg, the fingers being stiffly flexible so that if the body 2 becomes dislodged from the substrate bore, the fingers 10 are deflected radially outwardly behind the substrate to prevent complete withdrawal of the plug and screw from the substrate. The body 2 has longitudinal slots 5 and an end flange 6. The tips of the legs 8 together form a dome to facilitate insertion of the plug in the substrate aperture.
