Abstract

1412665 Excavators HARNISCHFEGER CORP 17 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972] 39117/73 Heading E1F [Also in Division F2] Simultaneous or selective movement through the same or different distances in the same or in opposite directions of two spaced parallel slide control valve rods is effected by a universally mounted manually operated control lever. As shown, an excavator such as a backhoe 10 has two such manual control levers 28, 29 each operating two spaced parallel slide control valve rods 32, 34 and 36, 38 respectively, connected to slide control valves 33, 35 and 37, 39 which control hydraulic jacks 15, 18, hydraulic motors 22 and hydraulic jack 21 respectively operating the boom 13, stick 16, horizontally rotatable upper section 12 and dipper 19 of the backhoe 10. As shown each control lever assembly 28 (29) has a pivot link 79 pivotably mounted on a first pivot pin 78 and connected to a control rod 32 (36), the control lever being pivotally mounted on the pivot link 79 via a second pivot pin 81, arranged in the link 79 at right angles to the first pivot pin 78, and having an extension arm 83 on which a ball-joint assembly 84 is mounted with its centre of rotation on the axis of the first pivot pin 78 and connected via a link 85 and bell crank 77 (75, 76) to the other control rod 34 (38). Manually operated treadles 30, 31 are connected by further parallel slide rods 40, 41 to slide control valves 42, 43 for controlling operation of right and left hand crawler tracks 11 of the backhoe.
