Abstract

1412542 Boring earth &c ARMADILLO HOLDINGS Ltd 27 July 1973 36000/73 Heading E1F A core cutter comprises a shaft 10 for attachment to driving means, a truncated conical shell 13 and knives 16 connecting the shell and the shaft, the cutting edges of the knives being adjacent the larger end of the shell. A pilot hole is formed in the earth, the cutter is connected to drive rods and pulled into the earth with the larger end leading to cut a core. The conical shape of the shell and teeth 23 reduce the suction between the core and the surrounding earth as the core is formed. The core is removed from the hole by reversing the direction of pull, offset thrust teeth 22 on the knives preventing the knives cutting into the core.
