Abstract
1411761 Retractive switches PLESSEY CO Ltd 11 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 2683/72 Heading H1N A push-button switch has a coiled biasing spring 3 constituting the moving contact and comprising two parts having different diameters, the larger diameter part 6 being arranged to be compressed upon depression of the button 2 with relatively little compression of the smaller diameter part 4 until the latter engages with a fixed contact member 12 to effect contacts closure whereupon the part 4 is compressed. As shown the switch comprises an insulating body 1 in which contact member 12 is secured by a splined part 13, the end 11 of member 12 being threaded to take a nut 18 for holding the switch on a printed-circuit board 17. The end 8 of the spring 3 extends near the base of the switch to form a terminal connection 10. On contact closure the spring part 4 moves a short distance down the conical tip 16 of member 12 due to compressive forces and is also rotated slightly by torsional forces, thus effecting cleaning for low contact resistance.
