Abstract
1411624 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 24 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54296/72 Heading F1A A fuel injection pump includes a centrifugal governor having a speed sensitive adjusting member 47 axially movable to control the movement of termination of injection and also the output pressure of a feed pump 24 controlling the timing of the commencement of injection. The pump is of the kind comprising a piston 8 reciprocable and rotatable in a cylinder 17 by a shaft 2 coupled to the piston, the latter having an end face cam 3 urged by spring 14 to co-operate with rollers (not shown) on a ring 6. A piston (67) loaded by a spring (70) and responsive, via a channel 69, to the feed pump pressure delivered to a chamber 26 causes rotation of the ring 6 and thus controls the commencement of injection. As the speed increases the pressure in the chamber 26 increases, but raising of the adjusting member 47 by the governor flyweights 52 provides a variable bleed off to the suction side 65 of the feed pump via passages 60-64. Raising of the member 47 occurs against the action of springs 54, 55 thereby to pivot a lever 42, 43 and move a sleeve valve 41 controlling a spill passage 38, 39 and thus the termination of delivery. The tension of the spring 57 is adjustable by displacement of an externally operated lever 58 thereby to determine the speed to be regulated. The lever 42, 43 is pivoted on a pin eccentrically mounted on an adjustable shaft 45. Fuel is admitted to the pumping chamber 30 through channels 27, 28 and whichever of piston grooves 29 is in alignment with the channel 28. Delivery from the pumping chamber passes through a delivery valve 21 and passages 31 to an annular groove 33 where it is distributed in turn to outlets 35, 36 by a groove 34.
