Abstract
1411316 Bladed turbine rotors FIAT SpA 22 Oct 1973 [23 Oct 1972] 49028/73 Heading F1T To retain the ceramic blades 18 of a gas turbine rotor against radial movement relative to a metal rotor disc 10, a coil 28 formed of filaments of ceramic fibres or carbon fibres is wound circumferentially around the tips of the blades. Each tip is formed with a part-cylindrical shroud 22 to receive the coil. The root of the blade, is received in axial slots 20 having a cross-section as shown, or of part-circular or truncated V-shape. Circumferential grooves (14), Fig. 1, (not shown), intersect grooves 20 and facilitate axial retention of the blade roots in grooves 20. To protect against oxidation of the fibres, they may be coated with a thin layer of liquid ceramic during winding, or metallized before or after winding.
