Abstract

1411254 Nep counting M A HASSIAN 14 Feb 1972 6768/72 Heading G1A In a nep counting arrangement the sliver 9 being monitored is drawn under tension across an illuminated screen 10, light reflected by the sliver is monitored by a photo-detector 15 and pulses resulting from neps are counted. The sliver is spread by a drafting head in which flexible rubber belts sandwiching the sliver pass over a curved guide plate, and the photo-detector may comprise an array of Cds cells. The size of the neps may be classified.
