Abstract
1411224 Musical instruments MOVIECOL ENTERPRISES Ltd 21 Dec 1972 [21 Dec 1971 3 May 1972] 59475/71 and 20659/72 Heading G5J [Also in Division H1] A case 1 containing a row of switches (Figs. 3-7, not shown) is placed on the keyboard of an instrument. When a key is played, a button 2 (or 34), which rests on the key, drops under gravity or by spring action and operates the corresponding switch. The switches are connected to a flexible printed circuit, and those for the black keys are fixed to a movable frame to allow them to move vertically to accommodate different heights of the black keys above the white keys. The switches control emitter-coupled multivibrator TO1-TO16, one for every three notes. Resistors 18 on the printed circuit determine which note an oscillator gives according to which switch is operated. A switch 52 allows the treble, the bass, or neither to be accentuated. A switch 53 selects filter circuits to provide different stops. A microphone M also feeds the same amplifier and speaker. A control R5 allows all the oscillators to be adjusted in step to bring them into tune with the main instrument. A phase-shift oscillator T6 provides vibrato. The switching unit may control lights instead of another musical instrument. Constructional details of the switches are described (see Division H1).
