Abstract

The electronic musical instrument with keys, e.g. an organ, comprises an automatic bass accompaniment device (5-10), which is cut in by striking a key. The bass accompaniment device (5-10) has inputs (51-55) which are connected to the outputs of a reduction circuit arrangement (1-4). The 2<12>-1 combinations of the signals which are generated by striking the keys are applied to the inputs (11-14, 21-24, 31-34) of said reduction circuit arrangement. The input signal combinations are digitally processed in the reduction circuit arrangement (1-4), converted into 31 different basic chord signals and fed to the bass accompaniment device (5-10). The latter is further provided with inputs (71-73) for inputting signals which control the selection of the bass program stored in a bass program selection element (7), and with an input (61) for clock signals which are produced, e.g. by a rhythm generator. Some of the bass tone switches (9) which form the bass accompaniment device (5-10) are connected via inputs (91-96) to six tone sources, which generate tone signals in accordance with a whole tone scale. Depending on how it is controlled, the bass tone switch (9) connects these inputs (91-96) to the input (101) of an output stage (10) which, after a frequency division effected by appropriate control, passes on the tone signals originated by the tone sources to a sound reproducing device via their output (110). <IMAGE>
