Abstract
1411212 Oxidation catalysts LABOFINA SA 28 Feb 1974 [4 May 1973] 9153/74 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A vanadium oxide catalyst is prepared by impregnating a refractory carrier with liquid vanadium oxychloride or oxybromide, hydrolysing the oxyhalide and then calcining the catalyst. The catalyst may also comprise a metal oxide promoter selected from the oxides of Ti, Sn, Mo, Ge, Cr, P or mixtures thereof which may be introduced into the catalyst by dissolving in the vanadium oxyhalide a soluble salt of the desired metal(s) which salt will easily give the desired metal oxide on hydrolysis, impregnating the refractory carrier with the solution, hydrolysing and calcining. The produced catalyst is used in the vapour phase oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons.
