Abstract

1410707 Dye-coated particles XEROX CORP 11 Jan 1973 [14 Jan 1972] 1539/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] A carrier particle for an electrostatic developer in which it is mixed with a Powder Toner, is composed of a metal, metal alloy or metal compound, and has an organic dye absorbed on its surface. The dye influences the triboelectric properties of the particle, and is chosen to give appropriate properties relative to the toner. Preferably the particles are of aluminium, iron, nickel, aluminium-zinc alloy, an oxide such as zirconium oxide, a nitride or a carbide. Many dyes which may be used are listed, and also toner materials.
