Abstract

1410207 Deoxidant for steel METALLURGISCHE FORSCHUNGSANSTALT 13 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971 25 April 1972] 57562/72 Heading C7D An immersible body of metal or alloy for deoxidizing steel has a flat face forming the largest cross-section of the body, the remaining surface of which is divided into steps. Preferably the latter run in the longitudinal direction of the body at a specified distance from each other and from the flat face, while on the surface remote from the flat face there is provided longitudinally aligned flat-bottomed recess. Particular basic body forms are polyhedral, conical, pyramidal, columnar, part spherical, prismatic, wedge, ellipsoidal or paraboloid of rotation. As particularly described, the body is of pear-shaped form in plan, with planar base 2, steps 3 and elongated recess 4.
