Abstract

1410122 Air duct SULZER BROS Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [25 Jan 1972] 3851/73 Heading F2P [Also in Division F4] An air distribution duct 1 comprises a downstream portion of steadily reduced crosssectional area having an apertured wall 2 through which the air flows without change in velocity, further apertured walls 11, 14, the walls 6, 11, 14 defining plenum chambers 6 and 16, and baffles 7 within the chamber 6. The areas of the apertures of the walls 2, 11, 14 are in the ratio 1 : 4 : 16. In another embodiment, the downstream half of the wall 2 (2a, Fig. 3) is parallel to a wall 4 of the duct 1, a wedgeshaped member is positioned between the walls (2a) and 4 to reduce the flow cross-sectional area and the baffles 7 in the chamber 6 adjacent the wall (2a) are of equal size. Each baffle 7 has substantially the same cross-section as the chamber 6. The wall 14 is semi-circular in crosssection. A wall having the required perforate area may be formed by superimposing two perforate plates.
