Abstract

1409880 Thermosetting resin compositions BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS Ltd 11 Dec 1972 [11 Dec 1971] 57653/71 Heading C3P A thermosetting resin composition comprises (a) a polybutadiene resin selected from (i) unextended hydroxy-terminated 1,2-polybutadienes having a vinyl content of greater than 50 weight per cent, and (ii) chain-extended hydroxy-terminated 1,2-polybutadienes having a vinyl content of greater than 50 weight per cent, (b) an unsaturated cross-linkable polyester alkyd (free from polymerizable monomer), present in an amount of less than 50% by weight based on the total weight of polybutadiene resin and the polyester alkyd and (c) a catalyst. In the examples the compositions comprise hydroxy terminated polybutadiene unextended or extended with methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, dicumyl peroxide, surface treatment silane, calcined clay, calcium carbonate, zinc stearate, 3 mm. glass strand, poly- (propylene glycol maleate-isophthalate) alkyd, optionally modified with pentaerythritol, and poly-(ethylene fumarate). They are moulded and cured.
