1409499 Timepiece dials SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 22 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972 7 Sept 1972] 39733/73 Heading G3T A timepiece dial has at least a part made of a material with a crystalline surface structure visible to the naked eye. The material may be a metal or alloy or comprise a compound such as a metal oxide, carbide, boride or nitride. Examples are described in which the crystalline structure is formed by heating a brass dial or a copper dial coated with cobalt; alternatively an iron-copper particle mixture is sintered to form a dial. The surface may be etched to make the crystal structure more visible, and may be plated with a 2 micron thick silver layer. The dial may be protected by a clear lacquer.
