Abstract

1409483 Anticorrosive and adhesion-promoting coatings DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 16 March 1973 12894/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Anticorrosive coatings on metal and other surfaces and adhesion promotion between polymers and other surfaces are provided by #- aminosilanes of the formula wherein a is 1, 2 or 3, b is 0, 1 or 2, c is 1, 2 or 3 and b + c = a, R denotes alkyl or alkoxyalkyl, R' and R" denote H or alkyl, Z 1 and Z 2 denote hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or an aminated alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl group. Surfaces protected against corrosion include asbestos, mica, quartz corundum, diatomaceous earth, sand, iron oxides, glass fibres, glass cloths, glass beads, electrocarundum, calcium carbonate and sheets, bands, mats or powders of iron, zinc aluminium, magnesium, copper, tin, titanium, brass and bronze. Polymeric materials whose adhesion to these surfaces is improved include natural and synthetic rubbers, PVC, polyethylene, phenol-formaldehyde resins, epoxy resins and polyurethane resins. The #-aminosilanes may be applied as aqueous or organic solutions. Alternatively the /3-aminosilane may be incorporated in the polymer material.
