Stud-and-slot fastenings.-A clasp for chains, bracelets, necklaces, and like jewellery comprises a button or gem a mounted in a ring b having a pivot c rotatably secured by a nut h to a plate d attached to one end of the chain &c. The button with ring b is passed through the aperture n of a plate o, Fig. 5, attached to the other end of the chain &c. p, and the button is turned to lie across the aperture n, whereby the parts are interlocked. The button is held in the positions to which it is turned, by pawls j, k on the plate d engaging with a toothed wheel i on the pivot c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 19144/97.
