Abstract
1409035 Valves CHAFFOTEAUX ET MAURY 1 March 1974 [16 March 1973] 9382/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A valve for filling and emptying a central heating circuit comprises a cylindrical casing 13 with an orifice 15 for connection to a water supply and extremities forming a port 14 for connection to the system and a port 35 to atmosphere, a valve 17 being provided to co-operate with the port 14 and serve as a non-return valve during filling. After filling a sleeve 18 is screwed downwardly within the casing 13 to move ports 24 out of register with the inlet 15. Further downward movement of the sleeve brings a shoulder 23 into engagement with a member 21 to hold the valve 17 on to its seat and to allow the interior of the sleeve to drain to atmosphere through the ports 24 and 35. To drain the circuit, the sleeve is screwed upwardly from the drain position until the ports 24 are again closed, a plug 32 is removed and the valve 17 lifted by introducing a rod into the sleeve. Alternatively, the valve 17 may be lifted by a replacement plug fitted with an upwardly extending rod and provided with a coupling to an evacuation pipe-line. The port 14 is connected between a radiator (6, Fig. 1) and a pump (4) in a circuit which also includes a heat generator (5) while the inlet (15) is connected to a mains water supply (8) through a stop valve (11).
