Abstract
1408994 Converter tuyeres USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 7 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 37392/73 Heading F4B A tuyere for a bottom blown metallurgical converter has an inner tube of elongated crosssection, with a length to width ratio of at least 2 : 1, an outer tube of similar form and spacers between the tubes. The cross-section of the tubes may be semicircular, oblong, elliptic, triangular, rhombic or in the form of a printed ellipse, Fig. 4. The flattened form of the jet issuing from the tuyere reduces splashing compared with a jet of circular section and the same pressure and volume.
