Abstract

1408644 I C engine pre-combustion chamber HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 6 Dec 1972 [6 Dec 1971] 56397/72 Heading F1B A spark-ignition reciprocating piston I.C. engine has a main combustion chamber 2, a pre-combustion chamber 3 provided with spark ignition means 6 and a flame passage 5 and means for supplying an air-fuel mixture of pre-determined strength to the main combustion chamber and a richer air-fuel mixture to the pre-combustion chamber 3, which is formed by a thin-wall metallic cup 4 of heat resistant material situated in a cavity in the cylinder head, the cup having a rounded bottom part of which is exposed to the main combustion chamber and includes the flame passage 5, the cup also having a second aperture 10 which communicates with the ignition means 6. A valve 9 controls the admission of mixture to the precombustion chamber and runs in a guide 7, the lower end of which engages a flange 14 on the cup to clamp it in postition. There is an inlet valve 11 and an exhaust valve (not shown) for the main chamber.
