Abstract

1408624 Photographic development HOECHST AG 1 Nov 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 50312/72 Headings G2H and G2X An exposed photo-sensitive (especially electrophotographic) coating on a support is developed by treating with developer liquid and drying while the support is held by a holding means which is inclined at an acute angle to the vertical, the holding means engaging the support only without contacting the coating. The development may be effected by an apparatus including a housing containing the holding means and a developer tank, means for transporting developer from the tank to a nozzle device for application to the coating, and a blower nozzle device for drying the developed coating, the holding means and nozzle devices being movable relative to one another. As shown (Fig. 1) an exposed plate 2 is placed on an inclined support 1 having a carriage 8 operated by a motor 9 and a screw 19 so that the plate can be lowered into a development housing 24 past a nozzle 10 which sprays developer liquid from tank 13, the developer being homogenized in the tank by spraying through pipes 15. When the lowering has completed the spray from nozzle 10 is terminated and the plate is raised back out of the housing past drying air blower 7, the amount and direction of air being controlled by a throttle 5. In a modification Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) a tilted plate 2 is transported horizontally on rails (27) by a belt (21) sequentially past nozzle 10 and blower 7.
