Abstract
1408596 Boriding ELEKTROSCHMELZWERK KEMPTEN GmbH 8 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971 24 Feb 1972] 41862/72 Heading C7F A boriding agent comprises a B donor, an activator, and from 45-99.5 wt per cent, (relative to donor plus additive) of an additive which is SiC, with or without free C. The B donor may be boron carbide, with or without borax; the activator may be KBF 4 . Steel or Ni is borided in a pack of the agent at 900‹C for 4 hours; Ti is borided at 1100‹C for 6 hours in argon.
