Abstract
1408209 Polyester composition HOECHST AG 3 Sept 1973 [5 Sept 1972] 41328/73 Heading C3R A thermoplastic polyester moulding composition comprises: (a) from 0À5 to 99À5% by weight of a linear saturated polyester, the diacid component of which contains at least 90 mole per cent of terephthalic acid and up to 10 mole per cent of a C 4-10 aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and the glycol component of which contains at least 90 mole per cent of 1,4-butanediol and up to 10 mole per cent of another C 2-10 saturated aliphatic diol or a C 8-12 cycloaliphatic diol, and (b) from 99À5 to 0À5% by weight of a branched saturated polyester derived from terephthalic acid, 1,4-butanediol and 0-01 to 10 weight per cent of an at least trifunctional compound, component (b) having a solubility at 25‹ C. of at least 1 g. in 100 ml. of a 3 : 2 by weight mixture of phenol and tetrachloroethane. The examples describe compositions containing poly-1,4-tetramethylene terephthalate and, as component (b), polyesters derived from dimethyl terephthalate, 1,4-butanediol and pentaerythritol, trimethylolpropane, trimellitic acid or cyclohexanone-2,2,6,6-tetrapropionic acid.
