Abstract

1408095 Reciprocating pumps EXXON PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO 18 April 1973 18692/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2] A plunger pump, e.g. for drilling mud, has quickly detachable inlet and outlet valve assemblies 12, 13 attached to a connection member 11 by bolted segmented collars 24, 25, self-energizing sealing rings 42, 45 being provided. Member 11 is attached to the pump cylinder housing 10 by a bolted, segmented collar 23, Fig. 2 (not shown), and has connecting passages 21, 22 less than half the diameter of cylinder bore 16. Sealing rings 27, 42, 45 and 53 are of metal, e.g. steel, and have lips (37, 38), Fig. 3 (not shown), the contact pressure of which increases with increasing hydraulic pressure. Each valve housing 12, 13 comprises two sections 50, 51 or 61, 62 clamped by collars 52, 63 and containing a spring-loaded valve member 58 engaging a seat 57.
