Abstract
1406793 Compressors LENNOX INDUSTRIES Inc 5 Jan 1973 [6 Jan 1972] 862/73 Heading F1N A refrigerant compressor is provided with a sensor 60 for sensing the presence of a predetermined minimum quantity of liquid at the inlet thereto. If liquid is sensed to be present, electric current cannot be supplied to the compressor driving motor 42 and the compressor stops or fails to start up when a thermal switch (72) is closed. The sensor is preferably a thermistor but it may be a magnetically actuated float switch, an optically actuated switch, or a sonic actuated switch. A heater may be provided for evaporating the liquid and thus allow the compressor to be restarted.
