Abstract

1406483 Ignition distributer LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 29 Dec 1972 [15 Jan 1972] 2020/72 Heading H1N An ignition distributer for internal combustion engines having an engine driven shaft coupled to a hollow cam shaft via a centrifugal mechanism is provided with a resilient snap fit collar of synthetic resin on one of the two shafts and which includes a surface abutting the other of the two shafts to limit relative axial movement, in one direction, between them. In Fig. 2 the collar 17 is snapped over end 15 of engine driven shaft 11 the circumferential rib 18 providing easy means for engagement and disengagement and the face of flange 19 limiting axial movement in one direction by abutting shoulder 21 of hollow camshaft 12 at the base of enlarged region 14 which region also provides felt pad means for lubrication between the two shafts. The resilience of the collar absorbs normal axial vibrations and axial movement in the opposite direction is limited by abutment of the camshaft 12 against a fixed plate of the centrifugal mechanism 20 (Fig. 1, not shown).
