Abstract

1406046 Air bath ELECTROTHERMAL ENG LTD 6 July 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 36846/72 Heading B1X [Also in Division G1] An air bath for use in subjecting a sample of rubber or plastics to elevated temperatures comprises a chamber 5 divided into two by a partition 12, diaphragm pump 16 for applying cold air to a part serpentine tube 17, and means for heating the air in tube 17, for example panel type electric heaters 19 (Fig 1, not shown) at opposite sides of chamber 5, the heated air then flowing through holes in a portion 14 of the tube into the lower chamber part 13. Motor 21 drives fan 22 for circulating air in the upper part of chamber 5. The chamber 5 may be of aluminium and may be enclosed in glass wool insulation 8 within outer steel tank 7, tank 7 being enclosed in casing 20 which has louvred walls for passage of cooling air. 32 is a thermometer.
