Abstract
1405764 Intra-uterine contraceptive devices A H ROBINS CO INC 7 Nov 1972 51339/72 Heading A5R An intra-uterine contraceptive device comprises an elongate central core body 10 having a nose 12, a tail 14, lateral sides 16 and a plurality of closely spaced elongate spurs 18 with smoothly contoured terminal portions extending outwardly from the lateral sides of the core body at least some of these spurs having an inclination towards the tail. As shown two rows of spurs are provided on each lateral side. The spurs are inclined towards the tail and decrease successively in length from the nose to the tail. Each spur increases in crosssection towards its free end enabling the spur to flex. Thin webs 20 are formed between the spurs and attached to the lateral sides. The webs may be attached to or unattached to the adjacent spurs. Additional transverse webs (26) Fig 2, (not shown), are formed between spurs in different rows. The transverse webs may be attached to or unattached to the adjacent spurs and or webs. A line 28 is attached to the tail 14. The line may have a knot to act as a marker. A single row or more than two rows of spurs may be formed on each lateral side. The webs may be shorter or longer than adjacent spurs. The device is made as a onepiece plastics moulding.
