Abstract

1405731 Coke oven door SIMON-CARVES Ltd 25 Jan 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 03463/74 Heading C5E A coke oven door 15 has a sealing strip 29 of Z-shape cross-section attached to the door body by clamping plates 21 aroundthe edge of the door and movable towards and away from the oven chamber and secured to the door by bolts 19, the free edge of the sealing strip being a knife edge 18 adapted to bear on the door frame 10 by means of thrust bolts 30 each passing through a pair of guide plates 22, 23 mounted on one of the clamping plates, springs 26 being provided between the guide plates to force said thrust bolts against the sealing strip. The bolts 19 may pass through the arms of the door body via elongated slots 20 in the clamping plate 21, and thrust bolts 17 may be provided in threaded lugs 16 on the arms of the door body to prevent outward movement of the clamping plate after adjustment.
