Abstract

1405566 Mattresses &c PIRELLI SACIC 9 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 00951/74 Heading A4M A bed, chair or the like comprises a plurality of parallel slots 20, 21, which may form part of a trellis-like structure, supported at their ends by an elastic support device secured to a frame 1 of the bed or chair, the support device being a unitary structure of rubber or other elastomeric material and comprising a substantially rigid principal lever 4 supported centrally by a foot 3 fixed by a bracket 2 to the frame 1, the foot 3 and lever 4 being inter-connected by a flexible neck 25, and a a pair of substantially rigid secondary levers 8, 9 supported centrally through a flexible neck 28-31 to the opposite ends of the principal lever 4, each end of each secondary lever 8, 9 carrying through a flexible neck 28-31 a slot support plate 16 with a mushroom shaped projection 17 which snap fits into a hole 24 in the slot end. The levers 4, 8 and 9 have stiffening tubes 5, 10 and 11 embedded therein. The principal lever 4 has integral stops 32-35 to limit rocking of the secondary levers 8, 9 and further includes integral restraining members 36, 37 attached to the frame 1 to limit rocking of the principal lever. Lateral projections 38, 39 on the secondary levers 8, 9 are directed towards the adjacent frame 1 to stabilize the plane of rocking of these levers.
