Abstract
1405304 Flat cable REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 28 Nov 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 54922/72 Heading H1A A flat cable particularly for supporting a control box (4), (Fig. 1, not shown), from a gantry crane comprises a series of mutually insulated conductors 5 and a flat, metal ribbon 7, e.g. of steel 0À5 mm. thick; the conductors 5 lie in a first plane in a sheath 6, e.g. of P.V.C. while ribbon 7 is parallel to the first plane and is embedded in a second sheath 8, e.g. of P.V.C. A coloured strip 9 may be provided on one of the major faces so that orientation of the cable can easily be seen. The ribbon 7 provides the necessary tensile strength, prevents the cable twisting about its longitudinal axis and can be used as a ground conductor.
