Abstract

1404898 Alloys METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 11 April 1973 [11 April 1972] 17521/73 Heading C7A [ Also in Division H1] Iron alloys suitable for the shadow mask of a colour television tube include compositions falling within 30 to 45% Ni, 0 to 2.5% Mn, 0 to 2% Si, 0 to 2% C, 0 to 8% Co, 0 to 11% Cr, 0 to 3% W, and the remainder Fe; a similar composition with zero Co, Cr, and W content but with up to 0.04% Pb and up to 0.05% S; and compositions falling within 33 to 36% Ni, 4 to 12% Cr, 0.5 to 2% C, 0.5 to 2.5 Mn, 0.5 to 2% Si, 1 to 3% W, and the remainder Fe. Alloys suitable for support springs for the mask include 18% Cr, 8% Ni, up to 0.12% C, up to 2% Mn, up to 1% Si, and the remainder Fe; 22% Ni, 3% Cr, up to 0.12% C, up to 2% Mn, up to 1% Si, and the remainder Fe; and 20% Ni, 6% Mn, up to 0.12% C, up to 1% Si, and the remainder iron. The mask alloys have coefficient of thermal expansion not greater than 2 x 10<SP>-6</SP>0C<SP>-1</SP> in the range 20 to 80‹C, while the spring alloys have coefficients in the range 10 to 28 x 10<SP>-6</SP>0C<SP>-1</SP>
