Abstract

1404775 Subaqueous structures EXXON PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO 19 Sept 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 43282/72 Heading E1H [Also in Division B8] A flexible riser 10 for supplying fluids from a sea bed base structure, via a plurality of fluid lines to, e.g. a moored vessel 15, comprises a plurality of substantially identical sections 11 connected together via annidirectional pivotal joints 12. The joints 12 comprise a ring 33 through which pass flexible coupling- lines 30 and which is pivotally connected, through mutually perpendicular axes A-A and B-B, to U-shaped structures 31, 32 at the ends of adjacent sections 11, 11'. The flexible lines 30 may be replaced by rigid lines connected to the fluid lines of sections 11 and 11' via swivel-joints aligned with the axes A-A and B-B. The sections 11 may be attached to a sea bed manifold via a rigid riser (20) Fig. 3 (not shown), which is pivoted to the sea-bed manifold.
