Abstract

1403731 Forming ducts in concrete structures G M J WILLIAMS 12 Jan 1973 [13 Jan 1972] 1698/72 Headings E1S and E1W [Also in Division B5] Concrete panels, floor/ceiling constructions or walls are preformed or cast in situ with heating conduits or electrical or other service ducts formed therein by casting concrete onto an array of foamed plastics elements 1 with a conduit 5 embedded therein. Access is provided to the conduits by means of junction box shaped foamed polystyrene inserts 8 anchored between opposing aligned conduits 5 by means of a plate 9 and thrust plate 11 joined by a bolt, the upper surface of the inserts being flush with the intended upper surface of the cast concrete. The polystyrene filler blocks 1 may have a lower sheet of hardboard or plywood and the conduit 5 which may be of circular or rectangular crosssection may be embedded in a pre-cut channel in the plastics and fixed by a sheet of hardboard 6.
