Abstract

1402280 Electric connections BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CABLES Ltd 3 Dec 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 55970/72 Heading H2E Two conductors are connected by being held in engagement with opposed serrated faces of an interposed conductive member by a shroudenclosed spring which is held under compression by a pin passing through aligned holes in the conductors and the interposed member. A spade contact 2 of a terminal lug 3 and a flat aluminium conductor 4 are interposed by a brass washer 5 having radial serrations on its opposed faces 6. Spring washers 37 are force-fitted on each end of a pin 31 passing through aligned holes in the contact, conductor and washer, and are covered with preformed resilient shrouds. Other embodiments show a nut and bolt passing through the contact, conductor and washer with a spring washer held beneath the nut or beneath the head of a shear bolt. The shroud may be moulded in situ from plastic non-setting material. The invention is particularly suited for connection to the solid sheath of a coaxialconductor cable.
