Abstract

1402127 Conveying glass sheets CATTIN MACHINES SA 16 Nov 1972 [24 April 1972] 52908/72 Heading C1M [Also in Division B8] Glass sheets are conveyed on an air cushion conveyer comprising a hollow vessel below a bed of rectangular members the longer edges of which are juxtaposed to define a plurality of slits in parallel spaced relationship so that compressed air supplied to the vessel passes through the slits to support a sheet of glass laid on the bed. Preferably a hollow tube also connected to a source of compressed air and having vent orifices obliquely directed towards the longitudinal direction of the conveyer bed is disposed along one edge of the bed to convey the glass sheet. In the figure, rectangular members 2 define slits 5 communicating with vessels 6 which are connected via pipes 7 to a source of compressed air. Tube 8 lies along one edge of conveyer bed 1 and is connected to a source of compressed air by pipe 10, the air passing through orifices 9 to move glass sheet 11 along the bed. Conveyer bed 1 may be tilted slightly towards tube 8.
